These include the traditional museums on colonial history and wildlife conservation, to the guarded exhibits on the precious Tanzanite gem exclusive to Tanzania and the industry surrounding it, to a snake park displaying live specimens of the impressive reptiles of the region.
Coffee plantations
Want to see where that delicious cup of Pete’s Coffee really comes from? Visit one of Tanzania’s many shade-grown coffee plantations and sample strong brew prepared in the traditional way.
Tour Tanzanite mines (available winter 2009)
Tour one of the largest mines of Tanzania’s unique blue-violet gem that is 1000 times rarer than a diamond.
Local and Craft Markets
Go beyond the tourist shops, and see where the locals go to barter for colorful fabric, plump chickens, and the freshest fruits and vegetables in town.
Schools
Visit a local school, orphanage, or children’s program and meet the future of Tanzania. While we assist each project with basic supplies, you have the option of personally donating whatever larger supplies they have requested from our partner non-profit organization.
Arusha Nightlife
Bring your dancing shoes? Enjoy Arusha’s lively, international music and dance scene and sample Tanzania’s proud selection of local beers.
Hike to Meru Waterfall
A breathtaking and sometimes rigorous 6 hour excursion, this hike will take you through village, farmland, and rainforest to the base of an incredible 60 meter waterfall where you will stop to enjoy a picnic lunch.
Kayak Lake Duluti
Take self-powered boat tour around this serene lake just outside Arusha.
Bike through Tanzanian Countryside
Bike from village to village along the edge of Tanzanian savanna and picturesque, agricultural plains.
