Founding The One World Safaris Experience

One World Safari’s founder, Bariki Lobulu was raised as many Tanzanian children were — in a Maasai village without modern comforts and scarce in opportunities beyond the traditional nomadic lifestyle. Fueled by dreams of education, world exploration, and learning how to help others through business, Bariki sought a life beyond. A high school sponsorship led to work and travel throughout Europe and the U.S. for over 15 years. Gaining early experience as a porter, Bariki also received formal training as both a professional mountain guide and a safari guide, with the intent of bringing these skills back to a greater purpose.

Founded in 2006, One World Safaris is a 100% African owned, for-purpose driven tour company that operates on two fundamental premises: tourism should connect travelers with authentic local culture, nature, and adventure, and it should give back to the local community and environment while doing so. Whether you’re climbing the highest peak in Africa, embarking on a safari in one of the country’s many vast wildlife preserves, or experiencing the cultural exchange program, for each and every trip purchase OWS springs a 10% donation of all its profit to sustain local non-profit organizations and community development programs.

Inspired by the call of home and his rich Maasai culture, Bariki hosted a group of fellow construction workers on a charity climb expedition of Mount Kilimanjaro and safari experience, and the idea for One World Safaris was officially born.

Our Team & Ethical Values

In addition to charity, One World Safaris prides itself on empowering others through employment, creating more jobs, training, and education. Highly skilled professional local staff, ranging from porters to assistant, lead, and senior guides have received expert training to lead guests on safe, unforgettable experiences up the mountain and on safari. Now, over 12 years after its inception, OWS has permanent staff headquarters in Arusha, Tanzania as well as Europe, and helps provide livelihoods for over 250 porters and guides.

As part of our culture at One World Safaris family, we donate 10% of all profits to help sustain local non-profit organizations and community development programs based in the region of the Arusha area. To date, our One World Safari guests have contributed to the erecting of a water system at a rural school in the Manyara area, the weekly supply of essential nutritional foods to a local orphanage and school, the building of classrooms at a primary school, the bi-annual delivery of medical supplies to a rural clinic, the construction of a sustainability project at a local orphanage, the delivery of school supplies, toys and clothing to a local nursery school/orphanage, the renovation of classrooms at a rural school, sponsorship of orphans and students throughout the region, and many more deserving endeavors.
